I am currently out of network for all insurance companies. Clients can contact their provider and ask what their insurance policy is for out of network providers. For payment clients self pay for sessions and at the end of every month I provide a “superbill” that can be forwarded by the client to their insurance company. All insurance interactions are ran by clients -

we charge clients per session the morning of the scheduled session. payments are made by clients either through placing an HSA, debit or credit card on file. if clients wish to pay another way, such as cash or checks this must be approved by our billing administrator before services are given.
clients can be reimbursed for out of network medical services from their insurance with superbills provided by our billing administrator. the process is all client initiate and will be supported with resources from the billing department and your therapist. for more details ask your therapist.

Koa is a specially trained animal who has spent his life dedicated to helping and loving others. He is there to provide comfort and a sense of safety and grounding. Emotional support animals have also been shown to release some of the brain chemicals that make us happy - including oxytocin and serotonin- just by looking at them. Koa provides comfort when clients are upset or a nice distraction when things get a little too “real” for the moment.

this is a get to know you session. The first couple of minutes are spent going over “informed consent” this is where I have to verbally repeat key points from the paperwork that is signed before session for medical and HIPPA law reasons. Verbal informed consent also includes information about laws that I have to abide by as a therapist. The rest of the session is spent getting to know one another and easing into the therapy process. No - we do not have to dive straight into the “juicy stuff” - I let the client lead where they want to go for the first couple sessions.

this varies based off the client, and treatment plan for the presenting mental health concerns and can be extremely difficult to predict; however, my number one goal is the welfare of my client. That being said I will work as quickly as we can to elevate the core concerns and then lower treatment frequency to work on solidification of skills and treatment, with a goal of ending treatment as soon as it is clinically appropriate without dragging the situation out any longer than necessary.

each one varies based off the client’s goals and treatment plans. In general I try to create a welcoming and open atmosphere for clients to feel comfortable in. I offer fidget items, comfy seating, music, sound machines and distraction actives (such as games, coloring, interactive interventions, etc.) In general each session is aimed at creating a comfortable setting.

my role is to be a support and guide towards exploring possible solutions or pathways for the client to explore. Oftentimes we carry our own thoughts, fears and biases that can block us from exploring other possible perspectives or solutions. While we work towards creating the path that the client wants, my role is to support and encourage them as they work towards their goals.
-
Due to us being license as medical providers all HIPPA and confidentiality laws must be enforced with all treatment and personal information. Practice policies for keeping your information safe and secure can be found under Notice of Privacy Practice forms.

as hard as it may be to believe - absolutely not! Stepping into the role of a therapist is a long process, during that process we are trained to not only help our clients but also help ourselves. We look at our own lives and work towards the same goals as everyone else. I chose to step into this role because of the own struggles either I or my loved ones have experienced in their own lives. My main thought and concern is always - what is best for my client, I don’t want to judge you - I want to help you.
